Cannes 2012 and all the talk before hand was that it wasn’t going to be as good as last year. We arrived yesterday and there was that quiet before the storm feeling and the storm arrived in full force this morning. You know when Cannes starts – there is no sitting on the fence – you’ve got to get on board and go with it as best you can.
There is so much on the go that I already missed Woody Allen because of Wes Anderson’s movie and press conference so no sooner has Cannes started and already one feels behind and struggling to catch up.

Moonrise Kingdom stars Kara, Bruce and Ed at the press conference in Cannes
Director Wes Anderson’s movie – Moonrise Kingdom – was a wonderful quirky surprise with a cast that seem to have enjoyed each other’s company and working with each other.
The photo call put it all into perspective for me.
Bill Murray, Bruce Willis and Wes Anderson were messing around with the photographers. Bruce at one point walked across the front of all the photographers and videoed them taking pictures of him.
At the end of the photo call Bill Murray dragged Wes Anderson back to the photographers for more pictures. Wes Anderson then gave his iphone to one of the photographers to take pictures of Bill and himself posing together.
As they were about to head to the press conference Bill grabbed Bruce and dragged him back in front of the photographers to pose for more pictures with Wes in tow who was now taking photos of them with his iphone as if he was the paparazzi.
Wes Anderson seems way older than his years and I couldn’t wait for him to answer more questions – very interesting and interested in life kind of guy. He is not just into making movies for the sake of creating a movie but also very importantly he is there to grow his circle of friends and surround himself with people he likes and who all actually like each other.

Watching the stars leaving the press conference I couldn’t help but feel a little scared for them. Ed Norton was doing his best to oblige with autographs and more photos but I could see the fear in his eyes with the crowd getting louder and closer to him. He was stuck between wanting to give a little of himself and preservation, getting out of there as quickly and safely as possible.
Welcome to Cannes 2012 – it’s on and it started with a bang. Can’t wait for tomorrow.
