Director: Joseph Cedar
Synopsis
As with many families, there is a rivalry between the father and his son. Both are professors, both eccentric and both devoted to their work. One day their roles in how they treat each other is reversed when the one discovers he will be awarded a valuable honour. The son is torn between being proud of his father…and envious.
Our Verdict
The story may be old, but this telling of it is fresh and offers a new perspective and new insight. The only probem is that the director has tried to put every element into the film so it’s packed a little too full with comedy, drama, dialogue and gimmicks. Sadly I can’t recommend this one.
