Review by
Director: Terrence Malick
Synopsis
The film is set in America in the ’50s and follows the life of Jack from his innocent childhood to his disillusioned adulthood as he tries to forge a relationship with his father. But more than this, the film – and Jack – are also seeking answers to the meaning of life, it’s origin and whether faith exists or not.
Our Verdict
Sections of the audience booed this film, and I could see why. It has wonderful moments that are a pleasure to witness…and then it has long, long stretches of either extraordinarily pretentious – or naive – scenes…Without quite recommending this, I would still say it’s one of those that’s interesting to watch, just to quell your curiosity.
